Dark clouds on the move nature is rumbling,
a storm moving in can hear it grumbling.
Bird feeders are full but silence abound,
not even the sparrows are sticking around.
Wind how it howls trees sway to and fro,
rain, sleet, ice could it possibly be snow.
Temperature dropping it is colder outside,
little animals better find a place to hide.
Rabbits find warm shelter underground,
they huddle cuddle in the den all around.
A few birds still flying high up in the sky,
searching for food for their nests nearby.
Kittens sitting inside on the windowsill,
do not understand what is this big chill.
Eyes opened wide breath on the windowpane,
animals outside are acting insane.
They sit all three in a neat little row,
wishing, hoping they will get to see snow.
Windowpane is slowly getting wet and foggy,
kittens watching closely are becoming groggy.
Their bodies are chilly their paws are cold,
this searching for snow is becoming old.
Time for all three to find a warm place to sleep,
they hide under the covers and make not a peep.
Robin Ouzman Hislop's poetry is certainly in dialogue with some of the key architects of the 'poetics of indeterminacy' – both the Modernist strands represented by the likes of Beckett and Stein, and the postmodernist strands represented, initially,
(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.
Very nice. Think I'll go tuck under the covers until the chill passes, too.
