Wind moving gently, trees are swaying,
children outside having fun playing.
Boys in the yard playing baseball,
be careful now, better make the right call.
Others are filled with excitement and cheers, someone stealing second base, applauded by peers.
Peanuts, popcorn, soda and hot dogs,
no dinner tonight, they will all sleep like logs.
Jumping rope, shooting marbles, rides on a trike,
one anxious to grow up and ride a real bike.
Draw numbers in a square outside on the walk,
girls hop and giggle and in between talk.
Birds flying overhead in great big flocks,
catch everyone's attention for two city blocks.
Searching for food they circle around,
seeing tiny bits of food all over the ground.
Pretty yellow flowers growing in the grass,
girls pick a few to place in a glass.
Bring them home, give them to mother,
a little water, some air, be careful not to smother.
This day at a close, inside we head,
dreaming and wishing, it is now time for bed.
A full day outside, the children all grin,
anxiously awaiting a new day to begin.
Beautiful reflection of what you've penned as a wonderful day...your imagery is great, I felt as though I was there with the children...enjoyed this much! Great write!
