Tornado..........
Slight breeze for now, beginning to rain,
need to prepare, pray we suffer no pain.
Have plenty of water, food stored away,
in one room we all will stay.
Cats at play, birds in their cage,
impatiently we wait for the next stage.
Rain falling harder, wind is stronger,
patience a virtue, must stay here a little longer.
Windows are vibrating, wind blowing wildly,
a little on edge, well putting it mildly.
Just me and my pets, in this house alone,
wondering if all my neighbors are still home.
Set up three cages with blankets and food,
cats very on edge, not in a good mood.
Wind picking up speed, swirling around,
pray that tornado does not reach the ground.
No windows to look out, only a radio for sound,
reports are there are three tornadoes around.
Bird cage at my side, cats now well protected,
whistling winds passed, no sound detected.
Body still shaking, difficult to stand,
want to see what happened to the land.
Some roof tiles are gone, five windows broken,
trees down all over town, but one, a token.
Bird cage back on its stand, cats out of cages,
pick up the pieces, turning new pages.
Thanking God for protecting us on this day,
clean up, rebuild, we are all on our way.

I see there is another person other than myself, who likes to write about storms.

Precision, rhythm and rich lexis depicted in "Tornado" the mysteries of Lady Nature... Her warnings... Her call to respect and balance of use of Her gifts.
I salute You, Poet.

(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend the Texas Tornado, Karen Lynn. :D
A StormSpinner kind of write. Hopefully those twisters passed you by. We were under watches until early this morning...thank God, none materialized.
Noticed you have a room to go to, not a cellar: must live in Texas. Like me--think it ought to be required to have underground shelter in Tornado Alley. HATE the Spring season here, for just that reason. STAY SAFE
(((HUGS))), love and prayers, Karla.
