Someday When

by D. Enise — Read all 64 poems by D. Enise

Where's the category for just "Life"?...
Refections of yesterday..A day comes to us all, the future seems shorter than the past..Hopefully that day comes, and the memories are warm reflections of a life having been lived,, not memories of dreams unfulfilled past wishes on stars~

Poem Artwork
*Someday When*

Have you ever dreamed of where you wanted to be?
Dreams of childhood
Always beginning with the thought,
"Someday When..."

Someday when, I am grown up.
I am going to be... Or I will Do this!, I will do that!
And seeming to end in , .."boy I can't wait!"

The lazy days, warm Spring afternoons
naming the shapes of what used to be clouds,
a who or a what, castles and crowns
cotton candy puffs swirling in the sky up above
The places that dreams come to us from.
Swirling clouds in late afternoons.

The Hot Summer Days, the sweet tall grass..
Dreaming of horses, What color you'd like?
where do trains go, off into the night?
All the far off places
Someday, you will go, plans clear and in sight.

The shadows of fall, the crisp morning walks.
The color of leaves as they fly with the wind
running from the places where once they had been.
Following their flights, to distance lands...

The excitement of Winter, as Christmas draws nearer..
Another year gone, and dreams grow clearer..

Time after time.. Wishing on stars..
Smiles and thoughts, wonders of tomorrow..
Someday, when I am all grown..

I'll be free from these rules..
Free I will roam...
I'll be a fireman, or I'll man a ship,
I'll live on a mountain, or be a teacher perhaps,
I'll fly my own plane! Or I will race cars!
A Doctor, or Nurse
I'll uphold the law
I'll have my own barn, up on a hill!
With horses & cattle, a white picket fence
Someday!! Someday When I am grown up!

Another season passing, passing in time
The dreams so clear, seems so long ago
Fading in spring, and more with each Fall~

A husband, A wife..a child and then two.
Another Winter, building a bike for under the tree,
thoughts of tax's, they soon will be due,
another new year, as holiday's draw nearer.
Each new Spring, seems warmer than last,
Seems the grass in the yard grows far to fast.
There's still time enough for those dreams long ago
Someday when, the kids are all grown
Someday when they are out on their own..

Another year.. another..or two..
Dreams,,,The life of our sleep..
Fleeting thoughts ..a long ago wish

Then one day, another Spring ...
A smile ,, a thought...Dreams from the past..
Someday when.. my children are grown up...

I'll quit this job, my life my own...

I'll see the world..I remember when...

Our Hearts.... ageless they know of no bounds..
Until one day,, the dreams we would live,
Are now out of reach,, we ran out of time..
They never got past..
"Someday When"
Having been Replaced instead of with,
" what could have been"

So Dreams they stay inside of our hearts,
turned into, just wishes
Past "Wishes" on stars..
We thought we had time, as they most always began
with the simple notion of..
"Someday When"....

An untouchable place
"Someday When"
Today is as good as any day can be..
To live the beginning of a least one of those dreams..

Through the warm spring days, Summer then fall,
Then on Through the Winter ..
Time passes slow.

Until one day, the direction we look,,
Is not of the future, but a place of the past.

A time comes to all, when all we will have
Are the memories of love, and the lives we have lived..

Or.. Dreams turned to Wishes
Wished on the Stars
Waiting for tomorrows for our dreams to come true
Dreams that began with
"Someday When"..
And stayed there .. empty place unfulfilled

"Tomorrow" never comes when our dreams "always" begin
With
"Someday When"
That place in our hearts, where time never ends
a place where, "When" sleeps, if never begins.

I'd been putting off my comments saying I would come back tomorrow and put them here...no truer words are spoken so eloquently though so NOW I will say...excellent piece and very beautifully done. The artwork you have on your poems is also breathtaking!!

Loved it!!

Words written that paint truth of life experiences allow others to re-experience life...your poem, "Someday When" is a vivid picture of ignored dreams. I'll read it again and again.

This has to be the best work I have ever read about time. I have great intentions but something always comes up. Thanks for this kick in the pants. There may not be another tomorrow. I really enjoyed it.
