Ocean roars, pounding deserted coastline,
Beneath a desolate moon, and twisted clouds,
Gulls dodge battered driftwood
Churned from shrieking storm's mouth,

Sea spray streaking cabin windows,
Chair creaking;
Synchronized wayward waves,
Brittle ankles shiver underneath a tea-stained quilt,
Cracked fingers twirl long matted hair,
Awaiting familiar footsteps,

Cat clawing, furniture frayed,
Whiskers twitching, she stares at nearby fish,
Who float past neon coral,
Riding bubbles to flaky surface,
And gazing out;
A comparatively rough sea,

He returns home soaked, heavy shoulders aching,
Leads his blind mother to bed,
Then tosses bark to smoldering embers, and sighs,
And warm drink cupped, rocks back and forth,
Watching wind blow waves across the bay,
Damp clothes drying, beneath a desolate moon.
