Poem Artwork

We are having our worst rainstorms ever in Northern California. Non-stop wind driven monsters. Very unsettling and damaging Sorry Texas and Oklahoma, wish I could send you some of our rain

~*~

Sounds like a war zone
Sleep impossible
Earth is in a groan

Rain a battering ram
Winds incendiary bombs
What's going on

Hounds of hell raging
Trying to get in
Never heard such a din

There was an echo
Sounding high to low
Casting a strange glow

Perhaps 2005 don't want to go

What weird anomaly this
Like a  heavy breath kiss
In the morning mist

2006 eclipsing 2005
Leaving it in the dust
New year comes alive

But can't kill old year
Too much to share
Left overs to spare

Can't leave debt behind
Problems that bind
Taxes still unkind

Only change of number
Most things still encumber
But earth never slumbers

Fires floods famine feast
Ever evolving on the increase
Can we learn to tame the beast

Storms more violent than ever before
Will 2006 be a year of wicked lore

Same different thing every year!;-)

May we all be surprised with joy in the New Year!

I am hoping that we are just purging all the negative Karma this year and that next year will be one of many graces. Time will tell and whatever comes our way, we will find the strength to deal with it. If we learned nothing else this year, have it be that we must be personally prepared for disaster and we must be responsible for our own welfare, safety and security. There will be no one waiting in the wings to help us up when disaster strikes; we must all learn how to be the captains and crew of our own ships as we sail upon our sea of destiny. Despite the soggy and sad message delivered in this poem, your verses are absolutely beautiful and they come through almost as a prayer, begging for understanding. Excellent poetry, Eileen. Happy New Year to you, may we find our blessings in the simple pleasures that have been bestowed upon us all.

Take care,

Sherry

I suppose so much has happened this year, people are having a hard time thinking of anything good. But there is/was/will be good. I feel strange that I decided to take a positive route on my poem of the new year, everyone seems to be wallowing in gloom and doom. In your case, Eileen, I can't blame you, you guys are having one hell of a time out there. Where's FEMA when you need them? Sorry. I know I'm a stinker, just had to do that. Well, at least no one has blamed Bush, but I am sure they will, in time, after all, he didn't sign the Kyoto Treaty.

Eileen, I will pray that the Lord puts a hedge of safty around you. I was thinking when I opened this and saw the picture that you had been here in Oklahoma and didn't even give a howdy! Man does that look like our stormy sky in our tornado season! I can well imgaine the weather you are getting, sorry. Here's wishing you warmer, dry and sunshine days ahead!

Hugs
Tina

We should all take note of the sea change alterations in our weather patterns
Our planet is becoming destabilized rapidly, and it has eerie similaraties, to the amgnetic flip of earth that suddenly destroyed the great Maya civilisation !
We have been warned !
A timely reminder Eileen for us all
And your picture encapsculates the turmoil of nature

Peter

And, unfortunately, they say more violent storms headed your way, and an unprecedented new hurricane forming in the Atlantic, a month after hurricane season supposedly ended. Something happening on our dear old Mother Earth, and I truly hope she calms down from whatever's upsetting her in 2006.

Hope you have a great New Year, Tiger Lily; and that we all have a very serene one.

I especially like the line, "But earth never slumbers". Timely message. R

And here Rufuz thought you were talking of him with this title...you should live in a camper/motorhome/trailer in a heavy rain and wind, you would think you would be blown away...though for me it lulls me to sleep...just have to get used to it...Ed & Rufuz

The last sentence says it all and may we indeed be surprised. The signs are all around us nature is sending us a warning.
