We grow up with myths
that are hard to overcome
some of which we never do
because it's true we are
made up of dreams we do
not want to leave behind
to fill our minds with reality

One that I held onto until
I was able to accept the truth
and if at first it seemed ruthless
I must confess I'm more content
having spent these past few years
learning more of the one who cares
who directs my ways for all my days

The myth that we can do anything
we put our minds to, is something
that causes much pain to so many
who wonder why they can't attain
we forget there is a higher power
who has a say in what we do, that
may make our plans go all askew

We can with endurance, reach goals
but many of them never see fruition
mostly because of our spiritual condition
it isn't only that  we haven't tried
it is due more often to the fact that they
are not good for us so obstacles are used
by a loving creator who knows what's best
