He stopped to read over what he had written
Amazed at how bitter the letter sounded
It caught him by surprise

He hadn't realized he was so deeply offended
Now instead of writing he was examining
His own strongly held principles

Finding with dismay that some of his accusations
Could easily be attributed to himself
He sat back to rethink his own actions

There is much wisdom in the old adage
"Count to ten, before you answer"
Anger blocks the ability to think straight

Calmly pondering the arguement with honesty
Both parties had almost as much in common
As in disagreement on the point of contention

It became evident that the differing viewpoints
Could be attributed to their  perceptions
A case of the senses versus the intellect

Funny how those who think with their senses
Believe they are more caring and loving
Than those who think with their intellect

He saw the reason for such misunderstanding
Since it takes the intellect to realize this
He wished that people could have more balance

Trying to find harmony with senses and intellect
Can be very difficult, but it is possible
He began a new letter, to share these thoughts
