Life is a daily dose of decision making

I surmise that I can beat the odds
by being totally sure of what I decide

However, as soon as we interact with another that changes the equation

Standing in mountain pose, finding my focus aware only of  balance and breathing

Not easy to get rid of unwanted thoughts that  infiltrate the maze of the mind

Conditioning the mind to concentrate is a never ending battle

No matter the goal, relational, spiritual, financial to have success takes dedication and determination

Failure usually occurs when wasting time on wayward thinking that has no value

Daydreams can be a bed of ideas, whereas wayward thoughts are just wasted time

I'm directing my thoughts towards good purpose
while listening to selected  minds of humanity
but always taking direction from the Holy Spirit

Well said Irene. I applaud your way of thinking. When it's time for one to make a tough decision, everyone has an opinion...all valid and worth a listen...but ultimately, even when you seek God's approval, the decision is yours. God gives us the gifts to help us make good choices, and trust that we will use the gft to our best ability.
Love,
Taylor

As I have mentioned in my comment in part 1 of Dreams Awareness - Dreams are the things that we need to deal with in realities; but our subconscious mind dreams it and give us the message. When we interpret our dreams and take its meaning and act upon it, it makes a lot of sense.

Nobody is a saint, so wayward thoughts are just wayward thoughts. Sometimes the things I write are naughty, and sometimes the things I write are nice. I am a writer, ao whenever, and whatever the mood I'm in, then I write, but not necessary that's the thing I will do.

I'm still in my prime so I'm naughty and nice. That's one way to live. I'm no saint, and neither is everyone else.

I can write something that is even 10 times naughtier than what I have here on the board, but I know that is only my writing, and that doesn;t make me a devil just because I write or just the way I think to write them. Gosh! I'm still in my prime, so to think and then write is just normal.

My "Love Letter to My Hubby" is of one example. I'm sure God allows that I write the way I did!

So true! A constant purposeful task to still our thoughts and fight negativity. All the positive thinking in the world won't help if we don't do just that-at the MOMENT it occurs. We are our thoughts! TY for your wisdom, Godmother!

Makes me think, as so much of your work does, somehow, of Psalm 23 and in particular "A table thou hast furnished in the presence of mine enemies". I always think of that table in fact as being a tableland, a place of extensive peace and provision, a plateau from which to "go back down to the valley and live it out". Funny how that place can be found by spiritual discipline, even within the most pressing and distressing of circumstances. Glad to see you are resting in Him who is the provider of all strength and direction. LOL Kate xx

Such self direction is, I believe, one of the greatest choices for self-empowerment that an individual can make. Quite thrilling to see it revealed so lovingly at the end of this poem.

Interaction can be both a blessing and a curse as you so gently and eloquently have put it in this excellent philosophical write. As I get older and have less desire for compromise, I appreciate the time I have alone, when I am not forced to consider the needs of another. I guess the physical compromises we are forced to make when growing older rob from the emotional ones we would have made in the past. I find that with the realization of the fact that my days here are growing shorter, I feel the need to hold firm to my focus and accomplish that which I came here to do. Having a spiritual guide seems essential in these years where indecision can rob us of one of our days, which have grown increasingly more precious. Wonderful write, Eileen.
Take care,
Sherry

Amen and Amen!

Love that first line: "a daily dose of decision making"
YES!
Kickstarted my motorcycle it did!

Oh how bloody true that is! Billions of little bursting synapses and neurons saturated with the software of personal experience continually, relentlessly, moving us somewhere, like being immersed in the rapids of a high-walled river, forcing us forward towards what our choices have created and what life has in store for us.

You know, you can never really stop and enjoy the moment, because as soon as you do, it becomes the next moment. But . . . when we purpose to capture our transitory visions in words we stop time for a moment. When we re-read our words we are immersing ourselves in the past.

So, I believe, that writers and poets need this tension of a never ending battle, and the resistance from all those who disagree.

For me it has always been the ones that stood against me, that didn't like me, that ridiculed me, that gossiped behind my back and maligned my character, that gave me the greatest inspiration to continue. That is what made me strong and willing to persevere.

Eileen . . . my dear, you are a different person than you were two weeks ago, and I like it!

Your friend
Richard

Yes, indeed, it would be so easy if "man were an island," but of course we are not. Most of us anyway. We allow others to come into our space and when we do that we wind up corrupting our space to accomodate that person, to give him or she, room and acceptance of other ideas. It is these other ideas that can, and most of the time do, corrupt our concept of who and what we are. Good poem, these last two, Eileen, they woke up the need to reach out in me and that is good.
