Sometimes you have a certain concept
but your thoughts are too nebulous to
grasp it...you try to pin it down, but it
eludes you

In the process a murky vision takes place
in your mind, but you can't get it to clarify

So you're left with an idea that has no words
to explain it, and no image to define it

Yet ,you know it is there somewhere just
waiting  for you to bring it to life

Now you start putting different forces together
meditation, prayer, dreams, brainstorming

Finally gestation period is over, the vision is
born, now you begin to share it

Over time your ideas are read and spread all
over the globe, and what you started with

Has become almost unrecognizeable to what
was intended, due to a variety of fabrications

Among other things, this resulted in completely
different outcome than what was intended

The conclusion then, is that what we fabricate
distorts reality leaving truth in the dust...

Leaving the mind to ponder what life would
be like if we stuck to the facts as first given

can you imagine how this has all affected history and religion ? indeed a poem to ponder and wonder if that's what you first intended ...

And then there are those times with a thought is birthed from what seems like thin air and our lives are changed forever. Sometimes we make the creative thought process become and sometimes it makes us become. How wonderfully complex we are and how wonderful it is that we find it difficult to even understand our self completely. Pretty deep, Girlfriend...lots of pondering went into the creation of this one.
Take care,
Sherry

A bit philosophical, yet spiritual to have the gift to stick with the "what is" and stay away from the "what we want it to be". Words do have meaning and your writing is excellent, resonating outward.....

Be safe,
Karen

Eileen,
Wow!!! You have nailed the creative process right on!!! The different outcome is what is meant to come out, and the set-up of thoughts is what drives us there. Well done!!!

LOL sounds like poetic chinese whispers...
I always tell any person whom asks -whatever you write get rid of the first 50%, as it takes that before the subcon takes hold- and who knows where any story, poem, my end up once it has its own life....

Eileen,
I have done this, too. I have begun writing a poem, with an idea in mind. Then, the telephone rings or the dog digs the door or I am distracted by some other means, causing the idea to leave my mind. I never delete the lines I have typed or words I have written, always saving them in a folder for future reference. Sometimes, a poem begun as a nature writing ends up becoming an inspirational poem, depending on which lines I keep and which I toss.

What I hate is getting the perfect line in a dream, while I'm asleep. They're always gone by morning and I'm always too lazy or unconscious to get up and write them down!

Thanks for sharing a topic that I sure has affected many, if not all, of us.

Love,
Jill

Eileen, you've capture in this poem the same type things that happen to me. I sometimes wonder, was this what I was trying to get out or have I gone awry again. Many times I think I've captured my thought and when I write it down, it's totally different than my thought. This is a keeper for this readers standpoint...it does reflect feelings I'm sure we all experience. An exceptional writing.

Philosophical in its supposition concerning the creative and cognitive processes that are required to write, or create anything really. I know this place well - like shadows passing by in the mist, and then meditating for clarification.

Walt has said the words I would have said, how often our stories change and end up not being related at all. Thank you for sharing with us Eileen and might I add, I am facinated with your art work.

Fascinating, and probably much truth in it. And it must be even tougher when one has two personalities. Did Edna or Tiger Lily write this? Inquiring Eds want to know!

Many times I have sat down with one idea of a piece only to have it entirely different at the end. Sometimes our minds head off in different directions all at once...go figure.

I'm getting ready to being writing "Misdemeanors & Felonies," my slightly fictionalized autobiography . . . I plan on printing this poem out and pasting it where I can look up from the computer and see it . . . Powerful truth here, Eileen . . .

Wow, have you been peeking in my window? You know that little slit I slam in the back of my head so all the common sense doesn't fall out all at once? You so captured my thoughts these days. You just know something grest is in there but it's hiding. Sticking it's tongue out at you and chanting: "nah nahnah nah nah nahnah!" And if truth were dust, maybe it would blow in the face of the liar. GREAT piece Eileen!!!

Ahh... Eileen, this reminds me of an old college experiment where you whispered a statement into the ear of the student next to you, and they whispered it to the next, and so on until the statement ran all around the room and was finally whispered back into your own ear. Not the faintest resemblance to the original statement! Beautifully done (as always).

There is such Truth to Fabricated Reality...I can't tell you how many times I have lived this as such...what everyone's opinion of you is so totally off in misconception...the internal mental process and external stimuli get lost in translation and there's power struggles, emotional conflict, and rivalries of subgroupings. If more people would venture somewhat more in the direction of authenticity in their lives, there would be more personal effectiveness in their daily lives...it starts with open-mindedness and points out that gossip is a social disturbance...very good message here, Eileen...

Sage

Yes indeed!
We wonder and while we wonder...more fabrications are being...fabricated :)
Time we started to unravel the loosely woven threads of fabrication...and embrace the tight loomed cords of Truth.

Thanks Kathy, this has nothing to do with Ed, it's a poem I had awhile back and never got to post, and a friend asked me about it today, as he was looking for it.

You talking about Ed? If so, just think of the joy you brought to the AD family who felt as we were truly part of you. Twas great fun.

If it ain't Ed, well then I can only presume that the facts as first given got lost in the translation/reading.

Great poem
Kathy
