Wasteful Illusions

Wandering the roads of past illusions
I view the error of my ways

Since there is no  avenue that will correct
this vision, i'm forced to confront it

Regretting that I let my mind engage in
such useless imaginings

Did nothing to stop them, and even seemed
to purposefully rub my face in them

Making me feel like a puppet, whose master
delighted in shaming me

Illusions are so much different than dreams
they are deceitful,and never beneficial

I questioned my reasons for creating illusions, and found them foolish

The fact that Creator said, if we believed in
Him,we had His promise to one day, be
glorified, and live with Him in Paradise

To be glorified, wow! why am I not doing all
I can to prepare myself for that day?

{ glorified-Romans 8:30}

You are truly speical and its not an illusion. You will no need to have illusions for you have the reality of him. Sometimes as poets we can't help where our minds take us. Lovely write. Love, bonnie

Illusions, deceptions. They taunt the mind with promises unable to be realized. Frivolities of the worst kind. May peace be always with you. JMW

Eileen,

Makes one wonder why we are all not preparing for that day. Only in His Mercy can we rely. Peace, Love and Blessings Always, Paul.

Nicely done . . . First two-thirds of this searching poem deals with humans insecurities and the last third allows same humans a way to be stronger and more positive . . .

Well Eileen we all take our turns going through this and I believe it is normal, in the end I believe God is happy if we have been the best we can be. Thank you for sharing.

I think we all go through this and have these feelings from time to time. Excellent thoughts to ponder, Eileen.

O happy day when we find ourselves in God's favor and grace.

Don't we all suffer from these 'wasteful illusions' at one time or another? Oftime our pain(s) leave us vulnerable to them. Yet, He knows our imperfections; it is from Him we ask forgiveness. Especially beautiful are the last two stanzas.
Blessings and Love, Friend ~~ Micke

My grandson Matt's rock band is called Illusions!! He does work hard with his band and loves that lifestyle. More power to him, I went to his Mother's and he was beating on the drums in the basement. The neighbors in the next town house don't even complain. It sounded like a rumbling train going by even worse. It's his thing now though.

Eileen,

Because life and all its problems do everything to cloud the vision - a thought provoking question and reminder. Well done.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

Wandering, meandering mind. I like the way you chide yourself for the time you can spend in illusions and fantasy. but don't be too hard on yourself. I related to this poem well. great write. Liz
