There are so many flavors of life
Our tendency is to taste them all
Even though we suffer strife
Or swallow bitter gall

The sun shines on both good, bad
It can either warm or burn
At times we're happy or sad
with many lessons to learn

We ponder why life can't be fair
Without bias, hate, war
But look at earths atmosphere
Chaotic earthquakes,storms, and more

Life isn't meant to live flatline
It can't ever  be that way
We are spinning on a planet divine
With chaotic acts occuring each day

We can't stop struggling against tides
There'll always be pleasure and pain
We can't expect a smooth ride
In a society that is insanely sane

etw~

Excellent insight, Eileen. Things on this planet are changing day by day, maybe not for the best. Especially weather-wise. I've never seen a summer with this much rain before. Floods are becoming the norm here, though they never were for the first 30 years of my life. Scary. Hugs,
Sheila

Mother earth has been around a bit longer than us and frankly is absolutely indifferent to our existence. In the short term we'd be far ahead working out the social issues, which will never happen. Eathquakes happen. So do storms. Only we set the survival traps for ourselves and our fellow species. Patrick

Life isn't meant to live flatline

I believe you are right, Tiger Lily, and all the many ups and downs truly are a part of what we all call living.

But don't listen to Brother Edvard, you don't need a beard!

Yes ET, there is insanity in the order of sanity, and some sanity in the chaos of insanity, like lovers, they cannot exist without each other.
Now, if you grow a beard we can call you a philosopher!

"Life isn't meant to live flatline." Simple truth, profound implications. So many people are just existing, drifting without purpose in a "flatline" sort of way. If only they could know both the pleasure and the pain of living above apathy, "struggling against the tides." There is so much wisdom in this write, Eileen. Thanks for inspiring me.

I take my text from your closing line, Eileen.

You are right on, but if you are the cause of the pain, you have to take the blame, not blame it on Fate or Momma Nature, or God, or the Universal Kaos, or whatever else comes to mind, the same goes for happiness, happenstance is another thing altogether, it just a question of how we react to it.
