Written in October when we go to the
mointain orchards for apples;-)

~*~

Apple picking time is here
My favorite season of the year
Time to visit the Apple farm
Where beauties turn on the charm

Walking by bushels of every kind
A Gravenstein grabbed my mind
It told me a strange apple tale
Of some refusing to become a meal

There were also many other things
That really pulled at my hearstrings
It said Grannie Smith wouldn't be pies

That really bought tears to my eyes
Said that Golden and Red Delicious
Were tired of being billed as nutricious

Macintosh was angry with Jonathan
Pink Lady wanted to marry Braeburn
I had to tell Gravenstein to stop sharing

The applesauce apple had my head spinning
After a minute it continued to relate
How the apples were planning to retaliate

Said that they wouldn't give any more juice
No more apple butter, caramel apples, no excuse
Gala and Roma, were jealous of Fuji and winesap

All were beginning to feel they were in a trap
Suddenly there was a burst of music in my ear
I awoke to the morning sun bright and clear
That it had all been a dream was hard to believe

So happy I could go to the orchard I was  relieved I
couldn't wait to have my first slice of mile high pie
Thoughts of  those other apple goodies made me high!

etw~

"Hey-Ho make you feel so fine
Standin' out in the orchard
In the bright sunshine.
Hey-Ho make you feel so free
Standin' in the top of an apple tree" - The Apple Picker's Reel

Thanks for reminding me of it.

Oh boy, now you are making me homesick! I used to love going out and picking apples then visiting the cider mills for fresh apple cider this time of year. Used to make the trip up to Vermont too for the fresh maple syrup, that was always a special treat...

Be always safe,
Karen

I just finished a Fuji apple and banana for lunch. After your conversation with apples...I feel as though I betrayed them. They were good and tomorrow I'll have another. It's great knowing you love apples too and that you name a whole bunch that I never knew about. Thanks for a delightful poem et.
Blessings and love,
Susan

Gimmee a big old slice of that apple pie with some sharp cheddar melted o'er it. That is probably sacrilegious to you, but this old guy loves it like that . . . Enjoyed the offering, Eileen . . .

Does that pie come with "nutrition facts" regarding sugar amounts...?
Seems I am reading those facts on all packages of late...;-)

Thanks for your kind words on my most recent posting...ed

Wow - an Apple Revolt. Just think if all the wondrous fruits and veggies we've been blessed with started revolting against us human beings taking them for granted. Wow.
