Those Innocent Babes

So many innocent Babes are left to care for themselves as their mom or dad are out on the streets, doing drugs or/and alcohol. How many of those children have no place to rest their tired heads, when did they eat last. Why do those parents have a right to a second chance with those children. The damages that are done most of the time can never be repaired.
Too many innocent babes are left to suffer because some adult forgot to use their brains. The law has to change to protect those children.

Those innocent Babes

They waited there in silence,
Afraid to make a sound,
But soon their fear was over,
By an Angel they were found.

Soon taken to the safty,
A home that lay close by,
Still lost in the dark night,
All those babes could do was cry.

Not knowing what would happen,
Where did their mommy go,
As she walked off and left them,
She walked in through that door.

She didn't think of those babes,
Alone there on the dark street,
No place to rest their weary heads,
Don't know when they last eat.

Their Mommy, she deserted them,
For her share of the fun,
Just drinkin and running wild,
Until her night was done.

When she awoke next morning,
And could bearly hold her head,
She thought, thank God they're gone,
With no thought, they could be dead.

But in some strangers arms,
The innocent babes did cry,
Not understanding what is happening,
With tears they questioned why.

Next day in court she entered,
Fought a plea and a request,
She did this for her children,
That she always did her best.

Drugs and booze had taken her,
To the place of no return,
Now those babes will one day grow up,
From this a lesson learn.

Those innocent babes indeed. How some people can treat their children is beyond me. What a very poignant write. I know in my heart of hearts that love will prevail in their lives as soon as the devil is taken out of it.

This is a tale of sadness with a streak of hope running a slim thread through it. Well done.

So sad and heartbreaking in our prosperous society some still live in an uncivilized manner! Just plain selfish, it makes me sick! Excellent poem Rose, you have a great compassionate heart!

Great pen Pose
Saved from monstrous parents
taken to the hands of foster parents
God knows what awaits them there
Poor children, some are transfer
from the frying pan onto the fire.
Peace be with them all

Wonderful pen here. Even sadder is the stories of those children sold off for a nights worth of drugs. Thank heaven it takes nine months to make a new one. Lady J

Hard hitting, about substances that mock and cause mayhem in so many lives.…
I've always held deep respect for america's effort of prohibition in the roaring 20's.... Noble idea, but in the end caused more problems.

The youngsters must have every obstacle bulldozed for their safety, no fence sitting...

A few months ago I read about a couple who left their children alone to go for a weekend break in Las Vegas. They were surprised that the court took their children away. Terrible how irresponsible some parents are. Great eye opener of a poem. Victor

There are some things in this world that are so unfair. Our children are our future, we must protect and love them.
Very wonderful poem Rose!

A truly sad reality for far too many innocent young ones.

I feel crushed by your words Rose!
Your heart is true
what are these little children to do
but to except the love from me and you
as they venture through their life
their spirit may find
a peace of a everlasting kind!
I loved your poem, and you inspired my comment in deep inspiration!
As tears still flowwww, these feelings I feel deeply so!

This breaks my heart as I make plans to go see and take out my own granddaughter for an icecream and a walk this afternoon, how can anyone do this while looking at those loving adoring eyes, how can anyone cause them hurt after holding their little hands, how can anyone be that heartless? I think they should be put in prison for the longest stretch and not a luxury resort...hard time.
