You're bike, You're Life

This poem is written for my husband. He has left this morning for the ride of his life as he says. Him and his friend Lloyd are gone on a road trip and even though my gut says don't go, I saw that look in his eyes that said "I have to". I have to accept that it doesn't matter where he goes, on bike , in the car or on plane that when God decides it is our time to go we have no say. After saying that I will pray each day for his safe return and I hope he has the ride of his life as long as he remembers my love is always his. So here's to your road trip Honey.

Poem Artwork

You're Bike, You're Life

You drive your Harley with great pride,
I see the glow each time you ride,
I almost feel how it makes you quiver,
The excitement that makes you shiver.

You say your life has been fulfilled,
Sometimes that thought just makes me ill,
You tell me not to worry now,
But I can't help, but to worry somehow.

I think back throught the years,
Of another bike you had,
How it almost took your life,
The thoughts still make me sad.

You'll be leaving for your trip,
On the freedom road you'll ride,
I'll pray each day that you'll be safe,
For God to be your guide.

Just know how much I love you,
You have a special part of my heart alone,
I'll miss you while you are away,
And look forward to your safe trip home.

I'll pray that you are safe,
I'll speak to you everyday,
I'll not discuss this with you,
While you are so far away.

Love you Honey
Rose Marie

Beautiful and original love poem. My husband and his bike...sounds familiar to me. I, too, worry.

I saw that look in his eyes that said "I have to".

And when one gets 'that look,' loved ones usually know what it means, but they usually let us do that thing we have to do, although they worry so. May your hubby truly have the time of his life, and return safely.

A very loving tribute to dad, he will be safe - I am sure. He knows what he has at home awaiting. That along with God will give him the ride of his life and his safe return. But if we didnt love them so, we wouldnt worry so either. Dad is in my prayers. I love you.

Alas, there are things in life that become a disease, even if they can mean a loss of life. In Malta there are people who manufacture fireworks. Every year people get blown up. No body stopped manufaacturing fireworks. But as you say, our death has long been marked. I remember once working on electricity thinking my wife had switched off the mains. Still alive thanks to God. Victor

W9onderful tribute to your man and biking but also a glimopse into the worries and fears of the biker ladies who often sit patiently at home sending them off with a kiss and a smile tell they once more hear the rumble of that hog pulling into the driveway again.

I know Fred will have a great time and I am so jealous.

hugs

My husband has that same look in his eye when he pulls out his Harley. I stopped riding on the back a long time ago, because I longer can enjoy the ride and being with him because I am so occupied watching the idiot drivers. The tailgaters, the passers, the ones who run the stop signs because they have no clue how to judge the speed of a bike. I will help you pray for him. I am sure he will be fine, it's our own insecurties, I think, that makes us worry so. I think i'm going to learn to ride my own. Maybe if I am in control of my own bike, I could relax and just enjoy. Don't worry to much. . A biker lives to ride, He will be great!
