It’s a shame that the young at heart today soon forget all the love they had for each other, at the first sign of an argument. It breaks my heart to hear them say “I will divorce you as fast as I married you”. What happened to the love they knew and the vows they took. I realize not all marriages are meant to last, my first one never. I guess I learned a lot first time around. My husband and I had a set of rules to live by so we would always respect and love each other, no matter what our argument was about. We are together now 34 years and we can look at anyone and say we will be together till death do us part.
The Young At Heart
In the hollow heart we find, True love that’s never left behind. Always opened to young and old, Always sharing, never left in the cold. Opened thoughts to share out loud, Enough smiles for the crowd.
Soft words spoken loud and clear, Just to show you really care. Arms outstretched to hold you tight, To keep you safe through the dark night. A simple kiss, to start a brand new day, To let you know thatall’sok.
A walk alone in the mist and rain, Reviewing thoughts that must remain. A love to last till you’ve grown old, Aren’t to plentiful we’re told. The young at heart can’t seem to see, True love that last is meant to be.
No silly fights all through the night, An understanding to make things right. Topped with respect and loving care, Always willing to wipe away a tear. Time is passing quickly every day, No time to waste, words we should say.
Share your love while you still can, Show each other you understand. Never grow weary or to old, Never stop loving, never turn cold. The young at heart can’t seem to see, True love that last is meant to be.
Wonderful message in this one, Rose; very well done!

Rose,
In a world of short order cooking and disposable "everything", I suppose that marriage has become "just a marriage". You are right, there seems to be an attitude of quick release when times get tough. I am blessed that our three older children have retainded that which you write about- the lasting companionship that requires work and commitment to fulfill. Thank you for this work.
Very wisely put dear Cuz and I know these words and thoughts come from your heart. No, marraige and life cannot always be easy and it is the love that lives and survives through the rough times that will be everlasting. Kudo's to you and Fred.

Rose, love sealed through the vows the two of you took long ago. Your marriage sounds as though it is blessed. I loved the images & the rhyme & rhythm in this writing...just beautiful!

Your thoughts are so true, as most just want to live together these days, to see if it'll work. Sad eh? love holly
An honest, but sad commentary. We live in a disposable society, and that includes marriage. If the marriage becomes imperfect, try again or not.
I find myself wanting to write pages on this topic, but won't.
Your last stanza - a good recipe for love and marriage.
Peace,
Kathy
