I Kicked  Myself To The Road

 I left your home bright and early in the am.,
I left before anyone there could see,
For the tears I knew I could not hide,
Were the tears of a love, between you and me.

I knew this just wasn’t meant to happen,
This life was of another woman’s load,
I couldn’t stay there for another moment,
Took the guitar and I kicked myself, to the road.

I found myself drifting down the highway,
I held my guitar as tears ran from my eyes,
I hid them well, underneath my glasses,
With a smile my heart beat it’s own disguise.

It’s a long way to my other destination,
I’ve got time to think of us along the way,
I know that my heart belongs to another man,
So darling it is best now that I don’t stay.

I left before anyone would notice this morning,
My guitar and suitcase holds a heavy load,
It hurt to know your love is truly for another,
With hidden tears, I kicked myself to the road.

Maybe one day we’ll cross the paths we’ve taken,
For now this is how our lives must remain,
For my heart too belongs to another love,
Right now all we have is hurt to gain.
