We Had Made A Promise

So many, many years ago dear,
When I first became your wife,
We had made a promise loud and clear,
To love each other all through life.
You seem to be so happy now,
You put me on your list so high,
You always shower me with gifts,
And wonder why I start to cry.

You’ve worked hard so many years,
Gave all you could and so much more,
Never once did you think to complain,
Showing it was me you did adore.
You shower me with gifts so fine,
Rose’s, guitars and diamond rings,
I don’t think I really deserve this,
All your time and precious things.

If I were to repay for what you’ve done,
For all the special things you do,
I wouldn’t know where to begin dear,
What could I give to prove I care for you.
I remember, we had made a promise,
We’d love each other all through life
You’ve made me the happiest woman,
 When you took me as your loving wife.

There’s nothing more that I can ask for,
That you haven’t already given,
A wonderful caring gentle husband,
And the gracious life that I am living.
I just want to say thank you,
For the promise we made that day,
Thank you for all your love and kindness,
