Old Man Winter’s On Its Way
Can you gently feel it ,
the wind within your hair,
The dampness of the dew,
On the ground everywhere.
The fresh smell of evergreens,
The coolness in the air.
We feel it in our hearts,
Old man winter’s drawing near.
The children pulling out their sleds,
And dad with his snow plough,
Mom’s in the kitchen cooking,
We’ll pull through again somehow.
Excitement surrounds us now,
Christmas time is drawing near,
Remembering the celebration,
That comes this time of year.
The window shoppers passing by,
The decorated stores are a delight,
As shoppers go home with treasures,
The gifts bought that seem just right.
Sitting beside the fireplace,
Then glancing at the fallen snow today,
Thinking back upon the smiling faces,
That had greeted you along your way.
We think of those less fortunate,
What gift is it that we could share,
To help make other's realize,
There are those of us who really care.
But I don't want to think of winter and snow
Thant's wht I moved south, following the migrant birds
where is worm, and yes we have lots of ever greens
down here to......Come on down stay a while.

(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in Tx., Karen Lynn. :D
Hope you are having a wonderful Thanksgiving! I sure am; I even got to have my turkey and all the trimmin's, something I was denied last year; was in the hospital, and on a liquid diet! BUMMER~~ LOTS better this year, that's for DARN tootin'! :)
You mean "its" in the title. "It's" means "it is." That is a pet peeve of mine. Probably because I taught English but I make a lot of typos too and I appreciate it when others point them out. Anyway. I love the ambiance that you have created with your verses here. Thank you for sharing this seasonal treat. Love and best wishes from the other side of Canada,
Regis
