I'm not too sure but a lot of people have found true love on and through the internet, and some has just has a distant relationship through words and their heart wondering what if's. Can this be classified as cheating and risking what you have at home. Even though I am in Nashville on vacation I was inspired to write this one by another poet tonight. Yes the internet have put love together and it has torn true love apart.
Can It Be Cheating
Hello are you there,
The message comes through,
Yes I am always waiting,
Just to chat with you.
You say the words I shouldn't hear,
Whispering all the right things,
Now tell me, while you're far away,
Can this be called cheating.
I heard my husband calling,
He said he loves me so,
And I'm the one who's on his mind,
When he walks out our door,
He misses me ,
can't wait till he comes home,
So I don't want to wander,
On the internet when I'm alone.
There's always one there looking,
To see who can be turned on.
Although they have nothing to offer,
We know this is wrong.
They can make us quiver,
Think of all the if's n ands,
But I'll stick with the one who loves,
My true ly loving man.
You make us feel that we are the one,
You really seem to care for,
But I have come to realize,
That voice is not the one I adore.
You too will come to see the same,
Turn the volumn way down low,
Keep what you have , the one you do adore.
Hello are you there,
Yes I am but let me tell you one time,
You aren't messing with what I have,
I 've got one of a kind.
I don't need your fancy talking,
The words you have to share,
Because I've got a love at home,
With one who really cares.
The internet may seem 'safe,' but it is a risk. Is it worth taking? Personally, I think NOT!! Any relationship [whether good or bad] is a commitment. Integrity and self-worth should dictate ones behaviors. Any deviation is cheating ... in my book.
I'm glad to hear you're having a great time in Nashville!!
God bless you. Kathy

Your write has certainly caused a variety of comments - so, I will give you my two cents worth :-) It is only cheating if your heart leaves what you have for what you think you may have on the other end of those wires. Flirting is not cheating, cause if that is the case - a good majority of us would be guilty as charged. The words of a poet are just that words, they do not mean that they are their feelings, maybe they overheard a conversation or what have you. I find sometimes, we as people, assume a lot of things. Some times are assumptions are right, sometimes not. Like Fee mentioned, if folks are stuck in meaningless relationships for whatever reason, this "luv" or whatever it is can keep them going.
As I have mentioned many times before, I am very fortunate to have a wonderful man - Eugene. He loves all my words - reads each one before I post them and gives me the courage when I feel down to create a world in which all my fantasies can come out.
I hope that you enjoy Nashville - its a lovely place indeed and we are having beautiful weather here in Ottawa. Take care.

No one likes to admit it but matters of the heart are black and white, right and wrong. I'm single but guilty as well. Thanks for writing such a piece that opens my eyes to make sure all that I say and do does not intrude on another's home. Sincerely, Deborah
It's cheating. I agree with Bernice, below - the 'Net is a Web that can snare - a thought provoking question you pen. Hope you're having fun in Nashville!
Yes, it's an emotional affair. So many of us women get easily caught up in that web especially when we are idle, bored, stressed and discouraged. The internet is okay when you are single and meet someone whom you set a date to meet in the real world. But having an exclusive internet romance is so unrealistic as you dancing on the moon. Keep the one you have and love him, regret is a bitter enemy
It is emotional cheating, no doubt of it but I have my own doubts about vows of forever that are supposed to superceed any and all circumstances, some of which only the couple involved in a marriage can ever know. Some marriages are emotionally dead but for complcated reasons the couple are still bodily together. It's easy to judge those living in a desert when your grass really is green.
This is very beautiful Rose. You've done an outstanding job of explaining what can happen on the Internet. And it does happen. Some are meant to be and others shouldn't happen at all. But if and when it does happen it is generally because there is something missing in the face to face relationship on the homefront. Is it cheating? Only the people involved can really answer that question and besides, all the answers to this question are open to opinion. And opinions are neither right or wrong. They are opinions. I do know for a fact that true soul mates have found each other on line. Some go on to new and intimate personal encounters that are meant to be. Some are simply flings. Others remain true soul mates on line and many of those are also meant to be. I know of at least a couple who went on to marriage and at least one where all involved, because of the children, actually live on the same street and remained close friends. Sounds amazing to me but in this crazy world we live in today anything is possible.
Ah dear Cuz, it is an interesting question both legally and morally. I agree that if you are in a loving marraige and fall in love on the internet and continue to welcome and advance that love than it is cheating, but what about the loveless marraiges as Ron touched on who cannot leave their spouse whether out of religious, financial, children or any one of a dozen reasons and who are up front about it from the start. Maybe it is the spark of love that keeps them going...who knows. I deem not to judge unless in their shoes.
Have a great time in Nashville,
hugs

Well, I am really not sure if it is cheating, but I always make sure that where ever I may go while surfing through the internet that Robert is mentioned along with me so there is no mistake. He is here and I my love and loyalty belongs to him as his belongs to me and we both give it freely and willingly. Let's see, I went twenty years between divorce and getting married for a second time and the way I see it Robert was well worth the patience. Why in the world would I ever even consider doing anything that would take that trust away? So no, as long as all stays on the up and up there could be no problem. So, can it be called cheating? I would say no, unless the individual themself wants more. I agree with you, you have said it all well....
Be always safe,
Karen

To risk a marriage, if the marriage is worthy, is foolish, but many do this every day. Usually, that grass on the other side turns out to be nettles. With HaltAbuse.org, I deal with some who have been tempted to be risky, much to their sorrow. On the other hand, the Internet can be a wonderful place to meet new friends and establish a meaningful relationship. I met Patty, over a decade ago, on the Internet, and we have a wonderful relationship (still growing) today. But a Chat Room is no substitute for a Living Room. Good one, Rose!
Welcome!
The poems in this beautifully bound book are a result of over twenty years of observations. Observations of the world around us and on the telecommunications network. All of the hate, love, heroism, disasters, and those who help.
