The Mirror Of Life

It appears that the older we get the faster time goes. The days get shorter as they seem to pick up speed and our body slows down. We soon see the importance in life that we never noticed before. While others make every excuse rather than accept the fact that we are just getting older. We all have a mirror that tells a story of our past, present and even maybe the future.

The Mirror Of Life

Passing by you notice,
Someone steering back at you,
Not wanting to take notice,
You wonder what to do.
You turn to catch a glimpse,
But much to your surprise,
You see in the mirror of life,
As you look into your own eyes.

A smile upon your face,
A glitter in your eye,
A little grey in your hair,
A tear to answer why.
Age is catching up,
But you love that image there,
Looking through the mirror of life,
At the one who really cares.

A wrinkle that shows the years,
A story of your life you share,
The children that you loved,
As you wipe another tear.
Those are not tears of sadness,
But pride you share  so free,
The way things were then,
You wish they could always be.

Your poem says it all. I often wish I could turn back the clock of time, and recapture days of childhood fancies and play. It seems like the older one gets, the faster time goes. Thanks for sharing with us. Well Done!...M

AH...just take the mirrors and turf em HAHA, that way no problem. 40+ always brings on these feelings, and then I imagine that 50+ brings more, I'm nearly to the latter of the two, and consider that mirrors are the biggest liars unhung.
Loved this Rose, getting serious now, love you too, Hugsssssss Ch'erie

I found today as I was putting down fertilizer that I had to stop after every two passes with my spreader. Boy did I feel out of shape and my daughter says don't you know you're almost 85 as she drove up and I was puffing. Still you do have to step back and realize you have to slow down before they plant you where you fall.

+I am not so wrinkled in my face yet, at age 63, of course I never smoked. I do see myself getting slowed down and aches and pains come more often. But you are only as old as you feel. Sometimes I feel 80 then again sometimes I feel 50. Ageing well is a sort of secret to life too. like this write.

In the Whirlwind by Tichaona Chinyelu

In the Whirlwind is a poetic storm that frees history from the cages of corruption and puts it in the hands of everyday people. Words are weaved into a new fashion statement that has nothing to do with runways but everything to do with projects!
