I Babysit two of my grandchildren five days a week and I find each night as I lay in bed at night, I realize the rewards I get each day just for loving them. They have that very special smile for me and when they hug me, my heart skips a beat for I know when they say "I love you Nanny", it is coming from their innocent hearts. How lucky can we be?
Our Rewards Are Very Special At The End Of the Day Dedicated to Shelby & Freddy
A very simple little smile,
A energised hug or maybe two, A very special eye contact,
You know is meant for you.
Two little hands to hold,
As you go out with them to play,
Our rewards are very special
at the end of the day.
That special piece of paper,
To some mean nothing at all,
They took the time to write the words,
I love you Winter, Spring, Summer & Fall.
You hold that paper dearly,
With their scribbles so divine,
As you share it with so many,
Those words from them are mine all mine.
Each day they’re getting older,
It’s sad to know one day they’ll be gone,
They won’t cuddle or make eye contact,
They’ll think that is all wrong.
But we will always remember,
They each had their own special way.
We’ll cherish our special rewards,
We had at the end of every day.

Awesome. But from what I remember my children and nieces and nephews always had that special twinkle in their smile for the grandparents. After all they were the special ones too. I hope mine are like that and yours too. excellent. Liz

My 24 year old grandson still hugs me when he sees me and so does his brother 20 years old and another brother 17 years old. It is all in the way they are brought up. A loving Mother who says Give Hugs, they listen to. Steve is going to be a lawyer, the 24 yr old, and not too proud to hug his grandma. Lives in Washingon, DC and is getting married Oct 6 09. I'll be there getting those hugs again.
You are so right and I know your grandchildren as well as my own are the greatest rewards life has to give us. My fondest wish is to be around long enough to see my grandchildren grow up and know they are well. I know you give your all to each moment you have with yours as well and the love you have for them is seen in the smiles you share with me when you talk about them.
