You're Slippin Through The Shadows

Love don't always last forever, why because when it isn't meant to be it slowly slips away, and though we feel at the time the hurt and pain that we can't go on, we soon find that true love is waiting just around the corner as the past love goes slippin through the shadows.
PS. No this is not about me as my love is here till death do us part.

 

You’re Slippin Through The Shadows
September 23, 2008


Long through the night I see you,
Always on my mind,
Wondering how did it happen,
You were mine for such a long time.

As my nights are filled,
With the love that we once shared,
Now you’re slippin through the shadows,
The one I thought would always care.

Where do you think you’re going,
Why do you quickly turn away,
You’re slippin through the shadows,
A little more each day.

Teardrops are falling,
I don’t know what I can do,
As you’re slippin through the shadows,
How can I live without you.


Turn to me, look at me,
Help me to understand,
Why you’re slippin through the shadows,
And can no longer be my man.

Tell me is there another love,
What could I possibly do,
To stop you from slippin through the shadows,
So I won’t live my life so blue.

I tell you there will be no other,
Life will never be the same,
As you are slippin through the shadows,
As though our love was just a game.

Rose, the title alone speaks volumes and is perfectly conceived for all that follows. Regret's one of the great cruelties but you handle it well and with dignity.

Dear Rose.... This cannot be about you!!!! However...you write everything as if it were true to the second...which is such a lovely gift for a writer...sure hope that is what this is... :-)) Anyway... Even in strong relationships...these times do come...and it is for the "wise" and "alert" to catch them...and...tune in to the other even stronger than before!!! Sometimes people (either or both) just go thru those "unsettling, not sure times"... and they need reassurance...or they are afraid of what is going on around them too... maybe age, maybe their job, maybe finances, maybe just feeling insecure... and those are their vulnerable times... so... we have to learn to recognize those "signs" (and you have captured this very well in your writing).....and... pray that God will help him/her to realize that it is not greener elsewhere! BEautiuful capture of wounded love and emotional sadness. We can not always control who we love or if they will return our love, it can often be the bright flare of a shooting star that burns out as quickly as it flared or it can be like the northern star meant to be forever. You captured the pain of that in these words dear Cuz.
