Halloween and Christmas seem to be my favorite times of celebration through the year as as i read some of the poetry here on the den , I see too that it is yours. Maybe it brings us back through the happy times of our youth and for no reason our attitude changes. Tis the season for sure.

Tis The Season
October 7, 2008
Written By: Rose Marie Rideout

Witches Ghost and Goblins,
Flying through the night,
Scary Jack-O-Lanterns,
As you scream out in fright.

The fog is low upon the road,
Now what creeps law beneath,
The slithering snakes that bites,
We feel them at our feet.

The lights go out it’s very dark,
One by one we are alone,
Gosh if we could just make it,
Another mile to our home.

Whats those voices in the air,
That awful screaming sound,
Something big has tripped me,
Now I’ve fallen to the ground.

Who’s that guy just standing there,
I see his shadow on the street,
I feel the shivers in my spine,
He makes my insides creep.

Whats going on here tonight,
There seems no rhymn or reason,
I remember tis Halloween,
The time of year, Tis the season.

I like it Rose, especially that is told from the first person point-of-view. The font, phrasing and even a misspelled word or two lends a childlike mystery to the whole wonderful night. A great description of an old fashioned Halloween from days gone by! Thanks for the memories Rose,

Boo!!!!! LOL A wonderful witchy write of the Halloween season, but my favorite holiday is Christmas (followed by the 4th of July and Veteran's Day) and the real meanings behind them. :) Well done, Rose!

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

Tis the season for goblins and ghosties and witches; but I'd much rather celebrate the TRUE meaning of CHRISTmas, thank you! Well done, Rose; BOO to you too! LOL

Rose,

Great poem. Makes you shiver in your shoes. Halloween is kind of fun, but I sure liked it better when I was a kid, and I was getting the candy instead of giving it!

Not to worry, Rose; that's just my creepy brother, Jersey Ed - he's harmless!

And Halloween truly is one of my favorite times of year, too; although my wife hates it - and I can't understand why!!

AH ! Sounds like Obama may be stalking you. Nothing much creepier this Halloween than thoughts of him winning this God awful election here in the U.S. Pray for us Rose. We need all the prayer we can muster. Very nice Halloween write my friend. Very well done indeed. God bless and stay well.
