With the winter months upon us comes so many changes as we settle into the warmth and comfort of our homes. We are more apt to get into our writing and kept very busy with the preparations for the Christmas season.
Sometimes it can feel like you are lost and lonely until we get accustom to the change.

Is It A Lost & Lonely Feeling
November 13, 2008
Written By: Rose Marie Rideout

I know it is that time of year again,
When things seem to turn around,
Nothing remains as it was,
It seems quieter in the town.

The weather it is cooling down,
People staying inside their home,
So much excitement all summer long,
Now we feel Lost and alone.

Getting into our winter routine it seems,
The Christmas time is drawing near,
Brightly wrapped gifts from loved ones,
Are exchanged this time of year.

Is it a lost and lonely feeling,
Until we all seem to settle in our way,
Enjoying the warmth and calmness,
From the summer on this winter day.

We look through the window,
Nod our head and wave a hand,
To busy folks quickly rushing by,
Their time on a busy demand.

The days seem to be shorter now,
The day soon turns to night,
But we are set in our winter way,
Where all will be alright.

yES, I've felt this way also. You have a way of making the nebulous inner world, crystal clear .
Wishing you a joyous 2009! :)

I love winter and Christmas and Thanksgiving. I love the baking and cooking and family and friends coming over and spending time with them. It is my season of joy.

Though I truly enjoy winter and the Thanksgiving/Christmas season I find myself fighting the sadness year after year. So much gone, so much fallen by the wayside, a time of reflection. Your sentiments do ring true...

Be always safe,
Karen

Rose,
You convey the emptiness of November in this fine piece, it's a transition from the glories of autumn, a gloom and waiting before the celebrations of Christmas, and you've captured it so well.

Lovely tone and atmosphere you kindle for us here, Rose. I, too, feel lost and lonely when life becomes so fraught, preparing to be happy, happy, happy!! Tranquil amid the talk of rush. thank you xx

This really hit home with me Rose. I'm a summer person through and through and this is a wonderfully written poem that describes my feelings exactly during this time of year. I love your writing.

Ah Cousin Rose you can say that again with the shorter days, busier schedules we seldom have the time to do all we would like but we can take comfort in the fact that come spring we get longer days again. See you soon.

Guess this feeling is everywhere...no matter what part of the country we live in... Winter is for being warm and cuddly indoors.... and sometimes I understand the reason for the seasons... We go so much when it's bright and sunny and then we need to recharge, refresh, rest...etc....so we can start all over again... good writing as you are so natural at doing... lindalaw

I love winter the best; always have, especially since living here in Texas. In Texas, summers are too hot, and the springs are way too stormy for my liking. The falls are perfect, but the winters aren't cold (or snowy) enough for me. Maybe this year we'll have a decent winter; they're calling for it. Hope so! I sure do miss the snow/cold!

(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in Tx., Karen Lynn. :D

Wonderful writing as always, Rose; brava!

Rose,
I too feel the effects of Winter. I love Summer best and miss it when Fall and Winter come around and bring us the cold again. I eagerly await Spring, but sad to say its a long time coming. Enjoyed this, Rose!

Blessings and love,
~Linda

I'm definitely getting set because Old Man Winter will be arriving very soon. And he's extremely hard to ignore!

Frankly, I love the winter night ... beautifully penned, Rose, some can't abide by the seasonal change.
