I know my age and is proud of it as so many people tell me I look so young for my age but some days I don't feel like that and so when I look, it isn't such a pretty picture I see. Here goes.

Who’s in That Mirror
April 24, 2009
By: Rose Marie Rideout

I looked in the mirror
and what did I see,
Some other face
Looking back at me.
This can't be mine
I haven’t aged I’m told,
It’s some other stranger,
Cause I’m not that old.

Look at those wrinkles,
Those age spots so clear,
If I was looking so young,
They wouldn’t be there.
What’s that hanging,
almost to my waist
and  that over lapped belly,
at my age, is a disgrace.

My mind says I’m twenty,
My feet want to race,
My heart’s slowing down,
I only move at one pace.
My eyes they see shadows,
My body feels pain,
I’ll have to slow down to survive,
Old age has nothing to gain.

Fabulous write sis, I love the words/poem. We all have to look in that same mirror and see the same things/changes. It can be a bit of a shock sometimes, but age is only a number. Its whats in our hearts that counts. So we just go with the flo.

Love you sis,
Selena

Rose, the mirror is just playing tricks on you.
With a heart as sweet as yours, your beauty is
ageless. -gene.

Rose, better to see wrinkles than to no longer be among the living...but you know what...I hear you!

Good one, Rose; well done! I look at myself and think, "Gosh, how old I look!" But then I'm glad to be the age I am: when I was born almost fifty years ago, Karla and I were not expected to survive, me, especially. So any day we wake up breathing or above ground is a Gift from God; we consider each day a miracle!

(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend, Karen Lynn in Texas.

Nicely written Rose, I like this. Get rid of the mirror and see yourself in your loved ones' eyes!

Rose,
The fade of the body is inevitable so do the best you can with it; what don't fade, if we nourish right, are the heart and soul and yours are strong and definitely in the right place, and you make us strong, too.

I think even after all I have been through and seen and felt in this world at heart I will always be 2oish and feel I can take on the world most days but we all have times when our hearts weary and tire and that is okay as well as long as we know it is only temporary.

Believe it or not it is been a long time now that I have been asking myself who is that man that without blinking are staring at me from the mirror.
