A Teardrop Fell on A Rose

All night long I thought of your arms,
Holding me all through the night.
Praying that you’d soon come home

Telling me all would be right.

I held a picture of you in my mind,
One of you holding me,
Then I felt a teardrop fall on a Rose,
A Rose that you once gave to me.

I could hear your gentle whisper,
As you said those words I long to hear.
I’ll love you forever more,
Always know darling I’ll care.

I opened my eyes, but you were gone,
No where were you for me to see.
Then another teardrop fell on a Rose,
A Rose that you once gave to me.

I miss you, and  I’m so lonely,
Since you have left and gone away,
I try to keep myself busy,
But the tears come everyday.

I rest on your pillow, I kiss you goodnight,
The pillow where you once lay your head.
Then I felt a teardrop fall on the Rose,

As I cried for your arms to hold me in our bed.

Rose, your words touched me... Really touched me. Nothing is lonelier than nighttime when ones arms ache to feel the warmth of a loved one.
How cathartic the ability to put one's feelings into words that, in some small way, help remove the pain of loneliness.

Just think how wonderful when the dream returns to normal reality! Hang on in there... absence makes the heart grow fonder and stronger, were that possible in this instance! You have such trust & loyalty of a spoken heart's love within your endearing poem & as far as I know Yellow Roses represent Trust & Loyalty (may be differnt in this new millenium)

We will never say, "a rose is a rose is a rose" because if she has been blessed with a tear provoked by absence, then, "a rose isn't a rose" it is a flower waiting to be picked up and tenderly kissed.
