I listen to the news and I answer the knock at the door. They need more money to find that cure. This has been going on for so many years. I often feel there is a cure for most dieases which are being kept a secret for now as we sit back helplessly watching our loved ones leave this world.

Just Give us What it Takes
May 3, 2010
By Rose Marie Rideout

As I went strolling through the night,
I prayed for cures with all my might,
So many out there suffering in pain,
Without a cure, they shall remain.

Surly someone has a clue,
Of something anything we can do.
All I want is to make them well,
Send their pain straight to hell.

We know it will be something old,
In front of us for years we’ll be told.
Why couldn’t we open our eyes to see,
This cure was always meant to be.

More money needed, they say,
I believe they have a cure put away.
More money as we watch our loved one die,
I sadly wipe the tears I cry.

Please God give us what it takes,
To cure their pain, why make them wait?
We know it’s there and that is true ;
it’s not too late to save a few.

You make an excellent point, Rose, and it's valid to question the motives and policies of the drug companies...meanwhile, so many suffer.

Actually, though most cannot afford new medications, I truly believe that considering the millions upon millions of dollars that go into the conception, making and marketing of a new drug, I do believe that the drug companies want to get it into the hands of those that can use it or need it as soon as possible. In most cases, though, I believe that it is the government that keeps new drugs from getting into the market-place as quickly as they should. Well written and thoughtful poem, though, Rosie.

One can wonder if the Pharmaceutical Consortiums are really interested to find the cure to many illnesses or if they are holding research for the good of their profits...
Just asking.

Yes I think the conspiracy theory for cures being kept locked away by the pressure of big pharmacetical companies and medical research facilities had some validity to it. We also though have to ask ourselves if they found a cure to all the major illness then how could we handle the world that is already overpopulated to the point that there will soon not be enough food to go around. Anyway your write gave poeple lots to think about and that is a great writer's job. well done Rose
