All too often we forget where we are, who we are and what we have in life. We forget to be thankful for all that's come our way. We get greedy at times, forgetting about those who struggle daily.

All Too Often
May 22, 2011
By Rose Marie Rideout

All too often we wander,
From what we have right here,
All life’s blessings given,
That we have so bright and clear.

All too often we forget,
Of where we came from,
Forgetting in the end,
We are equal, yes we are one.

All too often we pretend,
To be someone we aren’t to be,
Never happy with our riches,
Never satisfied with what we see.

Where have we gone, why do we stray,
Why have we lost our way,
What would keep us happy,
To live life another, accepted day.

All too often, we forget,
To Thank Him up above,
For He has made us who we are,
With all He’s given, made of love.

Who are we, what are we,
Why do we travel far,
Why aren’t we ever satisfied,
For all we have and who we are.

I stray and I forget a lot. I try hard to not pretend who I'm not. It's tough enough to remember who I am. Patrick

Why indeed? I guess it's human nature to never have enough of anything..or at least not to recognize when we have it all! Profound truths, Rose, well done!

"...equal and... one"
the great message, the great truth, Rose,
we overlook time and again.
If only we heeded your fine noble words.

Very beautifully expressed dear cuz, I think human nature plays such a huge part in perceptions and our own self worth. I have walked on both ends of the spectrum of life...and still know that tomorrow is still as uncertain now as it was when I was 18 lol.

Somehow, I think, Rose, that you know who you are and what you are and are truly happy to be you, having, and holding close what you hold dear to your heart. A soul touching poem, my friend.

You nearly brought me to tears, Rose. I'm going through some really hard times right now and this brought me a bit closer to reality. The reality that is our God is what I mean to say. I've never been a greedy person and always lived by, 'keep on giving until the good Lord stops giving to me.' Lately and currently though, my good nature is being put to the test and I'm really getting fed up with being taken advantage of when the person doing it knows how what they do really irks me. I'll never stop giving of myself (I pray to God I don't) but I'm tired of being used all the time.
Sorry to go on and on, Rose. But your poem really got to me, deeply. I guess I'm about at the end of my rope and I'm hoping the knot just lets go. WHY NOT TODAY, LORD? WHY NOT TODAY?
Fantastic write my friend, thank for sharing it and God bless you always. :-(
