Sometimes we don't realize how close we are to evil, than all of a sudden someone does the lowest, coldest most heartless thing possible and all we can do is pray, pray they don't have to keep watch over their shoulder, pray they get no closer to us, Pray that others may respect our loved ones who have gone home, pray To our Father to give us strength.

He Walks Among Us
August 17, 2025
By Rose Marie Rideout

How cruel and cold can one be,
How can one hurt so hauntingly,
How can one show the hate they Hold,
How can they do that’s oh so bold.

They'll not let them rest in peace,
For they have not in their time,
They’ll conjure something heartless,
The lowest in their mind.

They’ll do as their maker bids them to do,
For he is dark so dark and cold.
He doesn’t care when he makes a fuss,
We know the devil clearly walks among us.

For some they’ll not rest at night,
Fear of what lurks with fright,
Don’t close their eyes, don’t know what to do,
I wonder what God has in store for you.

At their lowest, they disrespect the dead,
They keep God's child from rest in their bed,
They follow the deep dark devil the fool,
They know God & His golden rules.

Frightening, the nights are closing in,
The devil has moved deep within,
No one to help them, now they’re all alone
May they rot cold and heartless in their home.

It's terrifying to know how far evil can go.
I thank God above for our love that flows,
We'll pray to toss evil aside everyday,
For God will take care of what comes their way.

sometimes the news is frightening. But thankfully there is still more good in this world than bad.

Very well done. God shall deal with them as he sends his son to dispense with them and their evil ways. The devil and his legion of demons and unholy angels know their time is near an end and that they will try to take with them as many as they can.

You strike many emotions with this piece because evil is always lurking and is very painful when crossing the path. Trust in God and his warm, gentle light will always be there to protect. God bless..

Be always safe,
Karen

WHEN I FIRST LOOKED AT THE TITLE IN THE NEW POEMS LISTING I THOUGHT I KNEW WHAT THIS POEM WAS ABOUT, WHEN I GOT INTO YOUR DEN I WAS A LITTLE SURPRISED. I ALREADY KNOW THAT THE EVIL ONE IS TOO MUCH FOR ME...SO, I KEEP MY EYES ON JESUS AND JESUS TAKES CARE OF THE EVIL ONE. THE WORD SAYS, '...THE BATTLE IS NOT OURS, IT'S THE LORD'S...' AND I AM SO GLAD IT IS! THANKS FOR SHARING. LOVE, BLESSINGS & FAITH...JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS

Some people don't acknowledge evil even exists, but it does and your writing captures the chill, the alarm with which some people have to live because of contact with an evil one. God bless. Enjoyed Liz

Rose, this is not the normal "Rose" that we love to read, but in my humble opinion, we as writers have dual sides. The first one is the one we are most comfortable with; the other, maybe a dark side that is aching to come out. If that is the case you are off to a great side. It takes courage to stretch our boundaries, and lots of patience.
Cheers,
Dan

Scary, dark words, my friend, so unlike your usual lovingly light poetry. I hope that these are just words that poets sometimes write and not coming from some personal, dark experience.

Wow cuz you are definately thinking out of the box and pushing the limits into the dark side of writing with this one. I dare not think of whom inspired it for fear the evil one may call his wrath down on my head but...
we also must guard against judging and remember the rule of forgiveness and turning the other cheek, or at the very least walking away.
hugs and stuff
