Where have you been

Where were you when I searched the world,
Where were you on my travels,
Why hadn’t we met somewhere, some other time,
Some other place when we were younger.
Why do things in life have to be difficult for us?
Why had we waited so long to meet,
To get to know each other, to fall in love.
Why hadn’t we seen this coming earlier through the years?
So many years wasted and yet we were meant to be,
To be as one, together for life through eternity.
We were meant to have our ups and downs,
To understand and misunderstand the whys of life.
We were meant to be together, forever,
After so many years of searching for each other,
Just to become Husband and wife.

You must travel and I will travel,
Though in the end we always reunite together.
We go our separate ways for a while and then
Here we are together never searching.
No longer wandering the world in search,
No more waiting in time on some strange street,
In some strange home for what we have.
Today we have found what we have longed for in life
No more to be misunderstood,
For we have what we have longed for together.
To understand the misunderstandings through life.
We were meant to be together, forever,
After so many years of searching for each other,
Just to spend eternity together as husband and wife.
