We have been so lucky with the weather.
We haven't seen any snow in so long, I
can't remember. We look outside and
everything is green, Just beautiful.

What a Beautiful Day
January 16, 2026
By Rose Marie Rideout

I look through the window,
I just can't believe what I see.
Everything is a beautiful green,
It seems like it's early spring.

We haven't had a bit of snow,
Since I can't remember when.
I know it still gets cold out there,
It feels winter has come to it's end.

We can dress in our warm clothes,
That doesn't bother us at all.
At least we can go for a walk,
With no worry that we may fall.

Maybe we are happy too soon,
For tomorow may show some snow.
I guess we should cherish now,
The weather we've come to know.

I heard from so many people,
Of the weather they still have.
I guess I really shouldn't brag.
It can make them very sad.

I know old man winter's still around,
For we can feel the frost in the air.
As long as the snow is gone,
To be honest, I really don't care

To children, snow is a wonderful delight. But you're right about as we age. Snow tends to be something we have to remove while it's quite cold and can cause us to slip and fall. We don't have that magic feeling anymore and appreciate it when everything stays green right through to the spring.

You Look FatCalgary by RickthePoetWarrior

Using Calgary as a backdrop the author satirizes the self-serving nature of the public as it continues to fatten itself, not only physically, but egotistically as well.
