I Always Forget Important Things

I can't seem to remember things,
I guess I am getting old.
Can't remember passrwords,
Or things that I've been told.

I wonder where I put that,
The important papers you see.
I was told to put them away,
So I'd remember where they'd be.

Can't remember the names,
Of people I've always known.
Their kids I don't know anymore,
My God, look at how they've grown.

Can't seem to remember places,
That I drove to day after day.
I try hard to see the signs,
So I don't get led astray.

I remembered how to play bingo,
My daughter took me there last night.
I had to play so many cards,
So many numbers, I almost lost sight.

I remember going into the room,
But I'm not sure of what for.
I thought I'd backtrack my steps,
But forgot as I went out the door.

Tell me, is this a part of aging?
Do we all forget as time goes by?
I'll have to exercise my brain,
So I'll remember, if I really try.
