- Traces of life trapped in a glass -

Poem Artwork

Within the ice cube
a tiny heart is trapped.

When thrown inside your glass
the ice melts,
while the throbbing heart
pathetically reaches
the bottom.

Wrongly labeled as
"LIFE",
the autarkic liquid world
- confined -
has no end
and no beginning.

Spiraling down,
hopelessly drowned,
the organ of life
plays the music
of absurd movement,
meaningless fights
and cynical resignation.

If you ever try to rescue
the miniature blood-pump
that's dying
in your translucent universe,
you'll feel
the fragility of existence,
between your thumb and index.

Shortly after,
it will be thrown into the dustbin
or chucked to a cat
who sure loves a living toy.

Profound and cynical and straight from the heart. Fragility for sure, our hearts, broken, discarded. Excellent. Liz

This is excellent... expressive, bittersweet, melancholy, heart-touching...

the aftermath ... painful destruction at the hands of who will take the leftovers thrown away without care. you touch a pain that so many of us know intimately, unfortunately, and reminded us of our responsibility to each other.

I was thinking this way about trust today--musing about how fragile it is, and how it's not something to be toyed with. I wrote something similar a while ago about relationships like this--water--ice--both made out of the same substance, but one has the power to freeze the other, and the other has the power to dent-melt-bruise--a never ending cycle of melt and freeze--hope you stuck your foot out and stopped the whirl, otherwise it could go on for infinity.--Charlie

Outstanding imagery and flowing rhythm . "Living Toy" takes one on social and intellectual trip ~ and ignites the wings of creativity.

I salute You, Poet.

Did you read about the Japanese scientist and the two water test. He took natural water from a soothing river and then another from a polluted, busy city river. One was subjected to Bach and easy music, the other to noisy city moods. One was contamidated and shook with vibrations. The other was smooth and easy and calm and the surface was even. The waters were reversed with each other and, sure enough the city water was on vacation from stress and calm as an ebb and the the calm river water became ragged in flow and frazzeled. This goes to show that even waters are stressed when subjected to the negatives. We need to turn our world around by being calm, thinking calm and slowing down a little every day. We may be onto saving the world from anxiety and war by watching nature and using her lessons to save our own butts. It merely quantum physics by mother nature.
Love,
Susan
