- creating the present, a time of one's own -

Poem Artwork

It's dark,
your cells are stars,
your blood, my liquid sky.
If it flows, I feel I could drown,
my thoughts dissolving.

Quick,
help me out,
this world is just too small for me;
they made it shrink with narrow minds:
shortsighted fools
always cause
longterm decay.

Slow,
help me find
the right pace,
the relativity of a time and space
where I can be myself
measuring my actions
on a human scale.

Sit,
we need to talk
of sex and politics,
of our children,
- with no haste -
in a world gone hazy.

Come,
let us find
our forgotten fondness for freedom
so that conformity/uniformity
will not define
the contours of my body,
the acuteness of your sight.

In lightness,
we need pure light.

From the depths of my soul I can feel these words. They spin a tail of longing... to be free...
And in pure light we can be free.

The Enlightener takes a scalpel, and makes an incision along the milky way, star cells pour out -- raining down to stab their jagged edges in my tilled-up ground -- my garden now aglow with light -- And you would come down too, dancing on their spinning rays, spilling light from your finger tips -- your hair. I, the harvester, would open up my apron skirt and gather all the stars that fell, and fling them back up into the heavens where angels (quick with needles) stitch up the tear again -- countours of time full of newer constellations -- a new age of discovery begins.

The opening stanza is absolutely incredible, Alixlea, as is the rest of the poem. Thought provoking excellence!

I love the way you reach out with your words to get inside the readers mind and make them question the reality of our times. You always seem to make statements of wisdom that the world needs to listen to more.
