That brown coat, a warm and soft animal around A lifeless body.
The life of someone a distorted mind tries hard to embody.
I shall not forget what it was like to believe; A time when existence was an open sky, at dusk... before ...
A long time before reality turned into a dusty book, its sole horizon trapped under a cover with the acrid smell of yellow pages, like sheets of a bed that border the betrayed.
The cashmere touch of chocolate colored inert fibers could warm up a soul more than those empty eyes whose lies provoke sharp rage.
Qualm lurks somewhere on a shelf when my coherence cannot stop the inconsistent madness of a sadly sick mind.
Closing the books, running between mahogany tables, I abandon the writings and cherished belongings in the library of my life.
Intelligence cannot answer the demands of insanity and closing the heavy doors of my library - knowing that abandoning it to the enemy will make them gain nothing - I flee, bare but rich with unwritten books they will never own.

Reviews of "The Soulless Splendor of a Dead Library"
As long as there are writers, words (libraries) will live. As long as there are those who hunger for the written word, we will live. Excellent, Axilea.
The scars of abuse - a dead library. Yes, it is so important to never let them gain anything. Build a new library [life] and know that we survived the horrors. Good for us!
Often poems speak heart bare inside so closely we preserve.Axilea is a poet with difference reaches straight to heart and often discloses the hidden truth.I am enjoying your writting.Keep it up

This is exceptional write Axilea, as an avid reader my whole life I can still smell now that you stirred the air, that mustiness of old books and furniture polish that always pervaded the town library as a child. Now as a writer I also understand that stories have a life of their own given to them by the authors. Lovely write indeed.
Sad, but so inspiring, Axilea. An abandoned library--an unwritten one. I love that analogy. Funny, I just watched "Beauty and the Beast" tonight--Beauty, a beast, and an abandoned library. Irony! --Charlie
A further collection of poems, many from years in the Middle East, but also the California San Francisco and Central Coast areas (Santa Cruz, Carmel, Big Sur, Berkeley, etc.).
