Her arm
Curled-at-rest
Softens the cover of my book
And even its contents bend
In the middle of a grey...
Afternoon.
A time for liquid rest
A time for discovery
And reconnect - create, direct
Lines of enchantment
Waves of alkaline hope
While breath caresses
Her satin skin.
I'm closing my eyes too
My head on the rose pillow...
I remember her song
While she was collecting
Rosemary and mint,
- He broke the moment -
With noisy music
And cynical coping.
I read this three times Axolea and it kept getting better with each write, for some reason or another I pictured a mother and child snuggled to gether in a magaical moment only to be disturbed by a loud husband or father. Still the moments captured seemed magical to me.
"A time for liquid rest"....awesome line here that has my mind rotating the different choices of resting liquidly. Fun words.
Your poetry is strong and leaves your reader wanting another and another.
love and blessings,
Susan
Beautiful imagery in this, and such a calm, peaceful write...until "- He broke the moment -
With noisy music
And cynical coping." Excellent writing here.
Rosemary: for remembering—I read that in an Agatha Christie book once. Then there’s mint—that’s for forever, and it will always remind me of my grandmother who couldn’t sleep well without a sprig of it under her pillow, so it’s for her too. Then there’s Rose—that’s easy, it’s love.
Altogether, it makes a fine bundle of promises for any arm and cheek to rest on—the scent, the memories, the sentiments…
The images you paint tug hard at my senses—it’s so innocent, so peaceful/hopeful/tender. And the cadence has a mesmerizing lilt to it—so soft, so dreamy and relaxing.
So it’s quite a shock to get to the end and have the cadence interrupted by abrupt iambs, harsh “k” and ”z-s” consonants, and noisy long “e” and “o” vowels—even “noisy” echoes them in its “nOOO-EEEzEE” diphthong. We’re startled awake, the sweet bundles of fragrance we were watching you rest on were obliterated, and we’re left there with the “oh!” of what it all means echoing in our minds.
So I’m sending you another virtual bundle of goodies, only this one includes Thyme—that’s for courage, bravery and strength; sage from my desert—that’s for long life and wisdom, and I’ll throw a spud in there too—taters always did go well with sage. And cubed and tossed with a little Thyme they’d make a tasty meal. Or, if you’re feeling creative again, you can carve pretty much anything into them…
Wishing you and yours wellness on all levels. Take care. --Charlie
This book represents a thirty-day period of my poetry journal. Each poem addresses
the dominant thoughts occupying my mind during the early morning hours of a given
day.
Dear readers, this is my third book of poems, and inside are a special collection of what have turned out to be not only MY personal favorites, but also the favorites of many of YOU. Some of these have never been available in print before...
A people’s heart can be found in their poetic words. In history men and women have stood firmly upon their soapboxes and street corners, rallying the deepest beliefs of people to rise up and be heard. The poetrypages.com has offered that voice a new
