The afternoon was resting
on a dirty dull wall
and she came in.
With a smile
and a plastic bag
thick, white
like space under a blanket -
white thick
you couldn't see through
her misty soul -
{teardrops from the night before
six months without seeing her
five-year-old daughter too
far to touch too
near to forget too}
Her hope is white
shining all over the place
cleaning agents as
rabbits out of a hat
a color changing magic wand
to change a room
cards - no tricks
only hard-working hands
blisters and brave eyes...
Exploited purity,
she came in
to do her white magic
that takes her nearer:
two hours
and
six minutes
closer
to her dreams
Nice work Axilea, the separation of one from their own daugther surely must be a torture of which toils upon the soul...it is the magic we all wish for that brings us away from this sadness...
This took my breath away-- literally. I held it through the end, hoping for her. That's a "white" knuckle ride.
I love that you wrote this poem, Axilea. I like that thought: that hope is a white light. --hard to even imagine what it's like to go through that-- child abduction-- even if you knew it was an ex spouse, unthinkable things happen. It's hard to know how anyone would act in such a time... terrible depression, hysteria, suicide... but boy! the courage it would take to smile, and just hope, and push it forward... incredible inner strength.
'Her hope is white
shining all over the place'...
Oh beautiful piece Axilea! Painfully and preciously so!
I hope her dream came...
Wonderful beginning too.

Robin Ouzman Hislop's poetry is certainly in dialogue with some of the key architects of the 'poetics of indeterminacy' – both the Modernist strands represented by the likes of Beckett and Stein, and the postmodernist strands represented, initially,
nice work...
Art Sun...
Your words drew me in and carried me through to the other side, lighter and more hope-filled than when I began...
