A church
and a garden
a brush
and chalky gravel
My calligraphy -
the light in my darkness
black ink on the stone's whiteness -
A graveyard
in the smooth wind
the quiet beauty
of globe amaranths
My elements -
water from the shell-shaped fountain
silky lotus skin unsullied by mud -
When words combine
I can see clearly - crystal clear
through the blur and blood,
clearer than you, my friend,
but what's the use for you?
Your writing mixes up
your elements poisoned yew,
yet you will stand up
[only to be]
petrified by toxic certainties.
Great build and very strong concluding lines that really pack a punch, Axilea. Very unique and conceptually strong with some beautiful contrasting imagery and thoughts. In admiration, Kate xx
Axilea - Interesting contrast of people and monuments to them. I picture the serenity of the fountain eternally alive and the pride of the standing monument worn away by time. The imagery is profound. - David
This is a nice work...fitting the elements of comparison into a word process of demonstrative purpose and yet from within the stone there is the reality of difference even between stones...
Striking images although they seem to be blurred now and then by a fog or haze as if in a dream like spell. Enjoyed this one my friend and the passion it captures for your feelings.

i really like the way you indent personal admissions in this piece. there is something about the way you have presented them that make them feel hushed... like whispered confessions almost.
I took a yew bow up,
and shot an arrow...
so sure of the aim was I,
that I had no need to look back--
to see its shaft poking out the middle
of the paper circles...
But she...
looking out of her bloody eyes
saw the shaft
and the circles
spreading out to infinity,
muddying what once was crystal-clear.
This collection of poetry addresses the nature of time, reflections on the natural world, the difficulty of loss,
contemporary social issues and gratitude for life.
Each person is but a grain of sand resting beside the sea. This thought sets the tone for Jill Eisnaugle’s latest poetry collection, Beside Still Waters.
