On the dunes of my life
I see
An agile shape -
Dynamic reminder
Of a time gone by
A fossil's new life
Shedding skin
On healthy shin
Crawling with claws
Like a letter "shin",
Calligraphy integrated
In palpitating reality,
Of keratin
- A soft breathing envelope -
Of rich changing content
Of truth that regenerates,
Circulates.
There's a lizard-shaped scar
And it's like a smile
An amulet on my leg.

An ode to metamorphosis! Love the depth. You have written a mirror for time.

See-- you've got it. Make something beautiful out of what is torn/flawed/scarred and the result is more often than not more beautiful than the original. (Mom's wisdom)-- love it. --Charlie
The scab and sloughed skin as strength and regeneration; the scar as healthy reminder of both weakness and strength. Excellent...and somehow a vague reminder of one of my favorite childhood reptiles...the jewelled lacerta.
Your reflective memory creates for us a variety...it is those scars no matter how small they seem that create within us the realities of past and the escapes into future...
you express with depth and it cast us with you...

Your words bring such a new dimension of beauty to my limited poetry exposure. So eloquent and unique. There is none other like you. Thanks, Deborah
Childhood scars either in flesh or in the mind often stay with us for our entire lifes, often serving as a reminder of a lesson learned or a price paid. Great write here Ax.
Dear readers, this is my third book of poems, and inside are a special collection of what have turned out to be not only MY personal favorites, but also the favorites of many of YOU. Some of these have never been available in print before...
