Under the roof
he lies in his bed
lies-lies-the lies his life told!
A tile-roof, caught between
a room and the sky
the gas flame blue
            SKY.
Hissing like a snake
- with ink-shot eyes -
that dances to the revealing beat
and holds the draping heavens
hissing and whispering secrets
of the missing link
the backbone of the universe
sways softly breathes gently
to ignite cold flames of twilight
above the chimney and the rooftop.

Tiles, like vertebrae
connected, yet detached
segments that come together
play with it
play with the sky
and just beneath, sheltered, for a while,
he lies in his bed
in illness that makes him lighter
            HEALING
just between the earth
and the fleeting sky.

Your thoughts within this work are deeper than we can see when we first read...there is the reality of a life illed in a bed to expose a life not of truth but one of terminal realiztion that the universe is awaiting the completion and acceptance of what one has become after years of dying to become Healed....

nice...

Axilea Strong images. I like the play of words with "lies" and the vertebra metaphors. Especially liked:
he lies in his bed
in illness that makes him lighter
HEALING
just between the earth
and the fleeting sky.

I also like the paradox of healing a life through an illness. - David

Profound and paradoxical. A backbone but no backbone and a backbone that sways gently, I feel in strength. Much to think about. Liz

Given the circumstances we are currently going through with someone who lied to us... I had trouble getting past the emotions of frustration and anger that the first three lines brought me... hee, hee...
The lies...why can't people just be honest?? Maybe then the backs wouldn't break from the burden of carrying those lies...

This breathes of empathy... I can feel his back, wracked with pain, healing-- see the milkyway, like a milk-white path of bone, dancing a bit-- hear the wind through the stars-- his northern eyes searing, whispering... it's laden with atmosphere--and intelligent to boot...all that backbone imagery going on. ...and it just goes to show you, that a good, strong backbone is the key to Everyman's universe.

That there's some pow'rful-good writin'!... --Charlie

Not a pretty or poetic subject; yet you managed to find a way to tell a difficult story with realism as well as beauty ... this is life... for most people.... unpretty as it is.... you got it girl!

The paradox of life and illness is one we struggle with constantly, few people escape live without illness and disease. I like in this write though how it is a part of the world around us and the very home we live in is part of the cure.

Chiropractic, practical, pragmatic - His Spinal Bed prescribing the means necessary to confessional revelation...he must confess to his wrongs either upon his could-be deathbed or the suffering of paralyzation, or his healing will not be condusive to regaining the virility and strength needed to thrive on this plane of life...whether parable or reality, the message of metaphor concludes immobility of mind, body, and spirit if not aligned properly, results in crippling...Axilea, this has backbone and the rhythm of spinal tap! Be well, you...

Love,
Sage
