he touched her cheek after dinner
she felt in touch with herself again

there was no need for mediation
in the immediacy of a real smile

there was no reason to be absent
his voice was ready to call her back

he touched her face with no pretention
and all construction became vain

(***)

when life is at its fullest
only elliptic descriptions make sense

on her desk piles of dilapidated words
waited for quiet and creased sheets at dawn

no trace of a previous death sentence
in a tried and tired morning bed

and in the fullness of her self she found
the courage to merge all words in one

unwriting unclogging unwanting at last
erasing what had become vain

he threw no metaphor at her
she caught and held the soothing absence

no clever sentence, no searching for a guru
just plain satisfaction, painless

no one looking for a clever rhyme
no one trying to conceal a crime

sentiments unseaming the past
he touched her cheek again, at last

that would be inspirational in the least to aspire to touch ones cheek again...your expression is beauty itself.

... and you have masterfully shown us how here, Axilea! And then some - lines to die for which are so unique and yet spot-on. I love the whole build in this poem - delightful, captivating and piquant - and the RELIEF as we are literally brought to the desired climax. Fabulous form, too: stuffed with internal rhymes and half-rhymes that reach their culmination in those final two couplets. This has "inevitable utterance" feel to it. A very happy and healthy new year to you: may you ever continue to delight us! :)) xx

Wow! Axilea, your verses transport the reader into the story. I was captivated from beginning to end, wondering what the colorful conclusion would be. You really capture certain sentiments with visual commentary, such as the brilliant line "piles of dilapidated words waited for quiet and creased sheets at dawn." Masterfully created. Thanks so much for sharing your work with us.

Happy new year!

Very sweet Axilea. When love comes together old wounds are healed, and we will have what we have never had, and we become what we were meant to be from that which we willfully accept. Yes, how sweet it is. This piece evokes the unspoken truths of love. You are so wise.

Touched by Muse in one sense, Axilea, and an understanding and assurance that lead to a true release of expression without forcing or artifice.

Dear Axilea,
Very nice poem and everything rhymes.
J'aime bien ces deux vers: "no clever sentence, no searching for a guru, just plain satisfaction, painless" et en finale en touchant ses joues les sentiments ont efface le passe.
All's well that ends well.
Mes felicitations. Love Emile
