In the hermetic hours,
a painting hand she has
to wipe away the misunderstanding,
reveal the misery that can’t be told.
Brush held in trembling hands
a heavy brow, a heavier breath,
she floats, she is a traveler with a wish,
while the canvas is a sponge
to absorb the fog and sweat of years;
those days when nobody ever told her
that she had a painting hand.
Worries hang from the windows
to her heart and belly
and I am the finch on the sill:
the one that overflies the messy vessel of her room,
that other stowaway,
the one who keeps an eye on her.
I record her movement as the expression
of a clandestine destiny.
My light feathers never burdened
by interest or fear, I am free to see
she has a painting hand.
It is so easy to be our own worst critic, then sometime the realization arrives from another perspective just how special our work can be. This is special, Axilea. Patrick

i love this poem! two beings juxtaposed in nature, surreal and visionary glimpse above and beyond. tremendous!!
phew, Took my breath away on this one..The 'one' free at hand to observe just because, is the friend at hand~Paintings do talk if we take the time to absorb~

The objective, compassionate critic,
free of prejudice, is a rare bird indeed.
Here i'm watching with the observer a work unfold
in detail the artist may not be conscious of fully
and, luckily, my freedom of expression isn't compromised.
This is fine angle, Axilea, fine thinking.
Feather-light, tender and deliciously full of assonance and alliteration. I especially liked "clandestine destiny" and the repeated h's and w's throughout the peace... (I did that on purpose). It's so breathy and whispery-confidential, and yet brimming full of confidence in the overseen. I would that I had an aviary full of such well-wishing song birds.
What a metaphoric masterpiece! I can see a bird in a glass cage in a museum of various painting. Some taken down -- some turned around. Some standing out -- some thrown out.
