Springtime arrives
On the promise
Of new life
As colts and calves romp
In pastures newly green
And young lambs frolic
Amidst the buttercups.
Innocence reigns
In this season once tarnished
By Roman brutality
Upon a man
Who preached peace
And love,
Yet died a miserable death;
But like the earth in winter
The tomb could not hold Him,
And on the third day
He walked again.
Let us not forget
The sacrifice He willingly made
In the spring of the year,
Giving us, His lambs,
New life.
Rebecca,
Your poem takes Spring and life in a full and complete circle. From the newborn animals enjoying their first Spring to the blessed Holy season marking the Lord's sacrifice for us, His lambs, your words take both happenings, this week, and tie them together, wonderfully.
Happy Spring & Happy Easter!
Thanks,
Jill
