We’ve spent the day

Collecting an assortment

Of shopping bags

As we walked

From boutique to boutique.

I have watched

Many a celebrity

Do just the same

On TV

And in movies,

But never had I believed

How much fun

It can be

To shop with

Such abandon

As to disregard

The near infinite breadth

Of my own bank account.

Who would have thought

That just one week ago

A single impulsive purchase

Of a tiny slip of paper

Bearing a random set

Of numbers

Would result in

Answering my every

Financial prayer?

But now, here I sit,

Taking a break

At a small corner bistro

In an exotic, far away land

With you, my best friend,

Enjoying the freedom

Of having no debts,

Of having every need met,

Of being able to buy

Whatever I want,

Whether it be

A necessity, or not.
