Sitting here, alone,

Trying to understand

What purpose

My life has served.

I am not ready

To give it up, no

Not just yet,

But for my future

To have meaning

I must first

Come to terms

With my past,

Then rethink

My present

And what baggage

I must shed

To make real change

Possible.

I must begin

By answering

Two questions:

What do I want?

And

What must I do

To achieve it?

I have lived

The first half

Of my life

In survival mode,

Going from crisis

To crisis, and

Always anticipating

More trouble

Appearing

On my horizon;

But now

I want to live

The second half

In a state of

Simple grace,

Anticipating instead

The joys to come.

In a word

I want

To thrive!
