Loving thoughts transmitted by an absent lover to his sweetheart by the power of wishful thinking..
I speak to you
as morning’s gold filament
fades in leaves
and strong brown limbs of trees
shake hands
with early breezes.
The sights and sounds
clothe your spirit
against tomorrow's promises,
weaving illusions
which may bare
a thousand sharp needs.
Yet solitude will be fleeting:
for, as surely as trees
give summer shade, moments
purple as love songs
white as whispered vows
will return when I am with you
again on that tomorrow,
as the golden fingers of morning
banish illusions, dress our dreams.
Patrick, Oh, how I love 'visuals'.. trees shaking hands with trees.. dressing our dreams.. this is so dreamy, it floats through the eyes and nestles in the heart.. sigh.. soooo lovely, Patrick. alas, too many men don't seem to realize how irrisistibly sexy they are when they speak softly and weave beauty from words.. (my sweetie does! smile.) Truly sweet, this one.. katy.
Ah, this one has the feel of poems that were penned during the Romantic Movement at the turn of the century, reminiscent of Eugenio Montale's Falsetto..."Bring me the plant which leads to where the sunny depths rise and life evaporates like spirit; bring me the sunflower maddened with the light."
