If I were to want to write a tune
What would I write about?
I imagine it could be a country song
Whether falling IN love or OUT

I guess I could write about Big Trucks and such
Or an Old Blue tick hound that just died
But, I’d probably write a hard Boot Stompin’ one
And unleash the Rebel inside

I’d write about freedom, the Red, White & Blue
God, guns and whiskey’s alright
Boot Scootin’ Boogies, and Honky Tonk bars
And at the end an inevitable fight

I’d wail out some lyrics ‘bout Good Hearted Women
Who’d take their men to mop up the floor
Yup- I could write me one hell of a song
If it all hadn’t been written before

Yeah- I could write country, “Three chords and the truth”
If it ain’t already been done
But the truth can be daunting when writing a song
And perhaps some truths shouldn’t be sung!
