Finally... the continuation of the fate of a historical clan. however mythical a tale!

Iain MacGregor looked o’er the moor
He roared in a thunderous voice
Cursing the land that had strangled his soul
To be faced with this ultimate choice

Left to his madness, his family had gone
The Stronghold had taken its toll
So, high on the battlement, claymore in hand
Fashioned in the stone, a wee hole

Laying the hilt end down in the gap
Iain made peace, in a word
While placing the steel just under his rib
The mighty man fell on his sword

Centuries passed and the land all lay fallow
Nae an heir was born to the Keep
Old Clooty had won with his curses and folly
That even the Sidhe (Shee) had to weep

The years that had passed had forgotten the son
Who Mary MacGregor had born
And his sons, and their sons were born far abroad
All but one, from the Isle was torn

Young James Thomas MacGregor had served at Glenfinnan
As Bonnie Prince Charlie reclaimed the crown
He reveled and witnessed the raise of the standard
Then hastened to reclaim his own

Outside the Strong the battlements crumbling
Even the mote had run dry
Jamie MacGregor felt he was home
To restoring the castle, he’d try

But first he would call on the Heavens to bless him
And set to a ritual fare
To banish Old Horny and minions alike
So to sit on the clan’s rightful chair

Late in one evening with bright fire lit
Jamie opened the gates of the moat
The sea water charged from the mouth of the Loch
Yet there was something beyond it, afloat

Two glowing eyes stared in from the shoreline
As Jamie watched them draw near
Slowly they came without breaking their gaze
Instilling poor Jamie with fear

He drew out his blade and held it at ready
For battle with spirit or man
This was the home of the Clanaugh MacGregor
Try to take from him that! If it can

Into the firelight came such a creature
That Jamie’d no’ ever seen
A creature so lovely he lowered his sword
As it stood just a few feet between

A Selkie, she was, who had morphed into human
The most fair of a lassie became
Her hair shown of copper with eyes of sea green
As her voice lilted the sound of his name

Dumbfounded, he staggered, caught off by this being
A beauty, beyond all compare
A smile crossed her lips and Jamie’s head reeled
For he thought that a Goddess stood there
