All I ask of you is to forget me not.
Do you think I could ever forget you?
Do I miss you? Would the earth miss the sun?
Would the rose miss the gentle rain?
Would the lone swan grieve for her mate?
Oh God, how I miss you, will it ever end....
this sense of emptiness, this limbo?
Life goes on, no one knows but me
how much I miss you, every day.
No one sees the devastation of my soul
the stark infertility of my heart.
The way I move though the moments
like an unfeeling zombie...comfortably numb.
Good bye is a sad, unthinkable thing,
and yet, with all the grief it caused, it's better
than being loved from the edge of your life
living in the far corner of your world.
Having you, but not having you
wanting you, needing you in vain.
So now the numbness is welcome to fill me
and drive out the pain of hopelessness
and the dark sense of my unimportance
while waiting outside the circle of your arms.
I’ve lived in worse places than the state of limbo.
You take me to world's unknown Southern Lady, I love your write and this one is great and amazing and I am reading some of your lovely poems today. You are a gold star writer and deserves stars.**********
Passionate write, La Belle. You've done very well to describe the inner feelings we often have when love goes awry and the outward show of that inner feelings that keeps us bound in one place. Enjoyed this!

Profound heartbreak in this write, La Belle. Better to live in limbo than to be with nose pressed at the window watching the life you want being led by someone else. Excellent poetry...so powerful! Lydi**
